Vintage Rug Size Guide

Vintage Turkish rugs were woven by hand, so no two share exact dimensions. Use this guide to find the right range for your room — then check each listing's exact measurements.

Three Rules That Always Work

  • Living room: at least the front legs of all seating should rest on the rug. For a generous look, all four legs on — that usually means 8×10 or larger.
  • Dining room: chairs should stay on the rug even when pulled out — add roughly 24–30 in (60–75 cm) beyond the table on every side.
  • Bedroom: place the rug under the bottom two-thirds of the bed, extending 18–24 in (45–60 cm) on each side.
